FourPhase are proud to be sponsoring one of our own raising money for UK charities by taking part in what has been known as the toughest mountain bike race in the world – the StrathPuffer.
Calum Mitchell, Project Manager UK, and four of his friends are taking part in the event in January 2020. The StrathPuffer is a 24-hour endurance race held in Strathpeffer, 20 miles northwest of Inverness, Scotland. Snow, hail, sleet, rain, and wind are expected along with sub-zero temperatures and around 17 hours of darkness so altogether a perfect blend for cycling.
The team, named ‘The Hairy Puffers’, are raising money for three charities to help those who have helped their families and friends in the past and, in some cases, are continuing to do so now. The charities they have chosen are:
Team Jak Foundation – support for children and young people aged 0-25, along with their families, diagnosed with cancer and related illnesses
MacMillan Cancer Support – provides support physically, emotionally and financially for cancer patients to live their lives as fully as they can.
NHS Grampian/ Aberdeen Royal Infirmary Optometry Department – local hospital department who cared for one of the team members children following a serious injury. Not only did they provide medical services but emotional support throughout the surgeries and recoveries that have been endured.
Calum’s fundraising page can be found here should you wish to donate to these three worthy charities: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/hairypuffers2020
We wish Calum and the rest of the ‘Hairy Puffers’ all the best in their endeavour!!
