FourPhase sign collaboration with Petronas Technology Ventures SDN BHD to advance sand management solutions
BERGEN, 06 June 2023 – Recognising the importance of sand management in oil and gas production, PETRONAS Technology Ventures Sdn Bhd (PTVSB), the technology commercialisation arm of PETRONAS, and FourPhase AS, a global leader in adaptive technology for desanders, are collaborating to advance technologies in sand management.
This collaboration through signing of a memorandum of understanding aims to resolve the current gaps in the technology, thus, providing solutions to sand-related issues in operations and marine environment.
Combining the strengths and expertise of PETRONAS technology and FourPhase AS, the partnership is set to address the various challenges in sand management with technologies to enhance treatment, monitoring, and environmental protection.
The joint efforts will also explore sand solutions that increase crude oil output, mitigate erosion, ensure process safety, reduce downtime and more, to deliver safe, reliable and cost-competitive energy offerings to customers.

The signing marks another significant milestone in PTVSB’s ongoing efforts to enhance its technology portfolio through exploiting intellectual properties while expanding the reach of PETRONAS’ solutions through strategic commercialisation.
“Since 2018, FourPhase has established a successful partnership with PETRONAS. During this collaboration, we achieved an industry milestone by developing an autonomous bulk desander system for an unmanned installation. We take great pride in joining PETRONAS on their sustainability journey to jointly advance sand management solutions for the oil and gas industry," stated Øyvind Heradstveit, CEO of FourPhase.
